A microscope photo of the edge of a piece of cover glass, magnified to show its crystalline structure as an abstract distortion of light. This is exaggerated by the use of darkfield microscopy to capture how light is scattered rather than how it is transmitted. This renders the body of the glass dark, while the uneven edge which acts as a lens to distort the light and push it out of polarization. In essense, an optically perfect piece of glass would render as total darkness, but flaws are rendered in a beautiful and ethereal light.
